The Garden Witch
I illustrated, wrote and published a book a few years ago with Eye of Newt Books here in Canada. It’s called The Garden Witch.
It’s about a witch that is tormented by the three rats living in her shack. They torture her. She’s miserable. She has a magic garden though, and the garden gives her a little turnip child named Mickey Turnips. Mickey is kind and helpful. She overcomes the rats and lives happily ever after.
The book contains silly images and some rat murder.
It was inspired by the books of Quentin Blake and William Steig. My illustration style is also inspired by them, but Tim Burton and Ronald Searle are also a big part of that. The book is dedicated to them.
Writing and illustrating a book is not easy!
It was a learning process. I had no idea what I was doing, but luckily Eye of Newt walked me through the process.
I hope you like it if you buy it.
Here are some of the scanned watercolour and ink drawings I stitched together in Procreate (and maybe added some more colour for a sky or something.)

What a great concept and awesome illustrations. I also am inspired by some of the same illustrators. Probably why I like your stuff so much. Just curious, do you do collaborations or commissions?
Have your book in my Amazon shopping cart and will check out once I hit the $35 minimum, which will be soon.
